Mike -

So i slept like an absolute log last night. I think my body needed it after the holiday and it's lack of sleep. We got up and weighed in and i had shred another 4lbs whilst we were away. We didn't know what to expect as we couldn't stick completely to our plan when we had a meal at a restaurant and 2 chinese take away meals. They were all following the guidelines of just veg and salad but if you don't cook it yourself you don't know what goes in it do you.

I can now comfortably wear the size 36 waist shorts Liz got me from M&S and just over a week ago i couldn't do them up so I am really pleased with how well this diet is going for me. We have another 3 weeks staying solidly on track and then we can review at bringing meals back in to the picture. I am about 3 lbs away now from 3 stone lost in 5 weeks. I would love to do another stone and 3lbs in the 3 remaining weeks which would be 4 stone lost in 8 weeks. That is the target i am setting myself for now.

After our long sleep this morning I popped down to sainsburys to get some cream for our tattoo’s (which look great by the way) and some other bits and felt ready for the day ahead. Liz’s friend came round to do her hair and kindly also did my hair and beard so whilst Liz was having the colour put in her hair I thought I would sneak in 30 minutes of reading. Confession time it was 5 minutes reading and 25 minutes of napping. I must have really needed to catch up on sleep. Before i knew it it was time to get ready to go and get the kids for my nephews birthday bbq so i went and picked up both of the boys and arrived to a feast of different meats being bbq'd. It smelt and looked devine. Again i found myself thinking one sausage, one burger, one bit of chicken wouldn't hurt would it? Jack made us some veggie skewers and they were very nice so hats of to the chef for doing those for us. We had a lovely afternoon around family and they all complimented us both for our new looks and figures.

This evening we have had a chance to spend time together so we took lexi for a walk and we made it round in a record time for me, I not only am so much lighter i feel physically fitter and could have walked miles tonight. For the rest of the evening my plan is to spend quality time with my girl and chill to the max.

Carpe Diem 4L

Liz -

Wow is all I can say, we had a week away on holiday and with so much tempation around and the tantrums we all had throughout the week i'm suprised we didn't cave him, but with the reaults we go this morning I am very pleased we didn't. I'm super proud of both our weight losses considering we went out for 1 meal and had 2 mushroom curry's from chinese shops.

Today started with a nice vanilla shake, we had my friend round to do our hair and we had a good catch up which was nice. We then went off to Riley's birthday bbq. Lexi came with us to this anI she was so well behaved I was super proud of her. She isn't used to children and she was around alot of them and just laid behind us. I won't say she was perfect as there were a couple of moments however she was alot better behaved than I expected, all the kids seemed to love how soft she was and how cuddly she is. Harry did us 3 skewers of veg each on the BBQ and these were amazing, i was tempted with a hot dog or burger in a bun with some cheese and mayo but I resisted and stuck to my veg skewers, which I must say tasted just like bbq - just what I like.

We've then been for a lovely walk over the road with Lexi and beat our personal best times for getting round, we knew we needed a walk today but Lexi didn't need long as she hasn't slept all day - she's been busy people watching and following her mum round like a sheep!

Tomorrow we have a rare day just the two of us to relax and unwind before we start work again on Monday so we plan to get up early and take Lexi out and then do absolutly nothing at all for the day, we might read our books on the terrace or play a game of monopoly or cribbage but apart from that and some washing we are going to chill.

I got asked today why I was doing this diet too, as surely only Mike needed to do it as he's the one with diabetes not me, my response was because that's what supportive partners do, and I could do with shedding a few pounds myself - there were no argements to this. So I want Michael to know I am proud of him for going on this journery (even if I did push him to do this) and I am pleased to be doing this with him as I couldn't imagine how hard it would be doing this on your own.

Phase 2 Update

I have to say that sticking to phase 2 is still presenting a real challenge. Still not quite finding the right balance. Water consumption...
